Top level meeting with European Investment Fund and European Investment Bank
EIT ICT Labs organised a high level strategic meeting with the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) on May 8th at the headquarters in Luxemburg.
It was the first time that parties from all organisations met to discuss the challenges to commercialize innovations from research, especially the early stage financing that is shortage in Europe. Questions were raised about how EIF looks upon these problems and what is being done to tackle challenges.
EIT ICT Labs CEO Willem Jonker presented the EIT’s concept covering the approach from both EIT and EIT ICT Labs and EIT ICT Labs Business Director Klaus Beetz, continued by describing the on-going business activities within EIT ICT Labs. Pär Hedberg, CEO of STING and leader of the Access-to-Finance catalyst at the EIT ICT Labs showed what has been developed within EIT ICT labs to close the equity gap for start-ups coming from the EIT ICT Labs partner network.

On April 18th the Trento Node of EIT ICT Labs officially inaugurated its Co-Location Centre. The Node management team was proud to share its enthusiasm with numerous guests that participated at the inauguration event.
The official opening of the day was followed by the “Lectio Magistralis” given by prof. Wolfgang Wahlster on the theme of “Industry 4.0: Towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution Based on ICT”. High-level representatives from Italian institutions and industry participated at the round table “Innovation strategies for Italy”.
In the afternoon session key persons from the EIT ICT Labs and from the EIT participated at the round table discussion "Making it happen". During the Inauguration event, our guests and visitors had the opportunity of visiting the premises of the Italian Node and to take a look at demos resulting from the activities of the Italian Partners in the ICT Labs action lines areas.
