What is a Co-location Centre and what will they accomplish?

The overall goal of EIT ICT Labs co-location strategy is to turn the prime sites of our nodes to innovation hotspots. By this, we refer to the whole local innovation ecosystem existing in our nodes, typically associated with a business or university campus. These hotspots are our co-location centres.

Where are our Co-location Centres located?

EIT ICT Labs has five Nodes, responsible for the operation of a physical Co-location Centre. These are located in Berlin, Eindhoven, Helsinki, Paris and Stockholm.

Why have these geographical locations been chosen?

These locations are already leading ICT innovation clusters, with extensive collaboration between industry, academia and research centres, as well as strongly supported by local governments.

How do Co-location Centres contribute to the overall goal of the EIT ICT Labs?

They co-location centre house the central office with the node administration and is the convergence point of the innovation hotspot. Co-location Centres are business catalysts working on top of existing carrier activities taking place in the co-location. The Co-location Centres offers excellent infrastructure and intellectual atmosphere to attract talented people from different backgrounds.

We believe that excellence breeds excellence and create the meeting place for creative collaborative innovation. EIT ICT labs mobility programs support the exchange of entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators, who get access to important tools such as R&D platforms, experimental settings, and innovation showrooms.

Local and International partners and associates are the main customers and users of the Co-location Centres.

How do we attract and keep the interest of our stakeholders, employees and customers?

The EIT ICT Labs will base its work on the principles of recruitment of top talents, international collaboration, open innovation, and broad dissemination of results.
