The Paris-Sud 11 University is one of the largest French universities. It contains 127 research laboratories, 5 faculties, 3 technical institutes and 1 engineering school. LRI is one of the two laboratories for Computer Science at the Paris-Sud 11 University. Founded more than 30 years ago, LRI is one of the top academic research laboratories in Computer Science in France, both in terms of size and scientific excellence. The laboratory has 280 members LRI consists of twelve research groups, supported by systems and network staff and an administrative team.
LRI consists of twelve research groups, nine of them being joint with INRIA Saclay – Île-de-France, making it the main partner of the laboratory. The three proper groups are: Algorithms and Complexity; Graph Theory and Combinatorial Optimization; Formal Testing and System Exploration. The nine groups, totally or partially joint with INRIA are: Proofs and Programs; Parallelism; Parallel Architecture; Networking; Databases; Artificial Intelligence and Inference Systems; Learning and Optimization; Situated Interaction; Bioinformatics.
The research themes addressed by LRI cover thus a wide spectrum of computer science ranging from fundamental to applied research. Such diversity is one of the strengths of the laboratory, fostering research at the boundaries across areas, where the potential for innovation is highest. LRI is from its creation one of the leading actors of Digiteo RTRA (The unique and world-class level cluster in science and technology of information in France). LRI is also involved in all the five working groups of the competitivity cluster Systema@tic Paris-Région.
The Paris-Sud 11 University offers a comprehensive range of degree programs in Computer Science: undergraduate, Master, Engineering school and PhD. Programs cover: software verification, information technology, internet, HMI, networks and telecommunication, computer infrastructure, bioinformatics. 100% of the students are offered their first job position just after finishing their degree. The Master proposes 4 research tracks of very high-quality (Information-Machine Learning-Cognition; Interaction; New Computer Systems; Bioinformatics).
