Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS) is a leading research institute for applied computer science in Sweden. SICS contributes to the competitive strength of industry by conducting advanced research in strategic areas of computer science. Sics actively promote the use of new research ideas and results in industry and in society.
The Institute is a non-profit organization and part of the Swedish ICT Research group. Virtually all research at SICS is carried out in cooperation with both industry and academy. Projects vary in size, but they all typically try to solve industry related problem or explore a new area with industrial relevance. Academic lead is essential to bring forth new ideas and knowledge and the industrial feed-back is valuable to make sure the research is relevant.

SICS collaborates closely with the international research community and with both large and small companies, in Sweden and internationally. The main office is situated in Kista outside Stockholm and there are smaller offices in Uppsala, Göteborg, Västerås, and Lund.
